Applications will open until further notice. Please be sure to have read through the information on the game as well as checked both the taken list and reserves for your character.

APPLICATION FAQ
What types of media are accepted?
Anything that has an officially published media that is available (whether officially or unofficially) in English. If it hasn't been translated yet, sorry you'll have to wait. Also, at this time we will happily accept characters from various manga, comics, movies, etc. But we will not be accepting traditional mythology as a canon source.
How many characters can I play?
You may apply for 3 characters without mod permission and, should you be interested in adding to that, we may approve up to 5 but we will investigate your activity before granting permission.
How old does my character have to be in canon?
There is no age restriction on characters. However. There are certain areas of the city where younger characters are not permitted. The Weaver of Innocence has placed barriers throughout the city barring those pure of heart from the darker elements present. The entire district of Musei, for example, is completely off limits for any character under the age of sixteen.
Please be aware that any, and we do mean ANY logs or threads that break this rule will result in immediate removal from the game. While characters may have histories that include it, we absolutely will not allow the exploitation of minor characters in any type of mature or sexual context in game.
My character is not human, can I still app them and can I app a humanized version of them?
Yes, as long as the creature in question has enough demonstrated personality in canon to be considered beyond a normal animal’s abilities. (My Little Ponies, Animals in Narnia, Hatoful Boyfriend birds, etc.) Because of the way dreams affect the characters we will allow humanized versions of animal characters as well but we ask that you choose one form or the other. Please think about what your character’s thoughts would be on the form change and be sure to specify whether the change would be the result of a dream or a nightmare. Not to worry, there will be plenty of event opportunities to change this later!
Are AU characters accepted?
Non-canon AUs are not accepted at this time. However, we will allow for canon AUs. What does this mean? It means simply that if there is already a Final Fantasy Squall and someone would like to play Kingdom Hearts’ Leon, that’s perfectly fine because they are quite clearly two different characters. The same applies to canons such as all CLAMP works ever vs. Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles. If, however, there is already a Final Fantasy Squall, you cannot app an AU Squall created by you with your own personal headcanon for an alternate version of the character.
The ONLY exception to this rule applies to those independently AU characters that have a significant amount of game history from another game and would like to bring that game history into The Citadel. In this case, please detail out the character's powers and game history in the application and provide example links to activity from the previous game.
Are original characters accepted?
Original characters will be accepted. It should be noted, however, that OCs will be evaluated much more critically and the application for them is considerably more detailed.
What about PBs?
For original characters we simply ask that your PB not be a mainstream recognizable animanga or game character. (ie: your original character should not look like Naruto.) If you’d like to use an obscure manga character that is perfectly acceptable, however. If your canon character is minor or obscure or for book characters we ask the same. Live action PBs will not be permitted for characters that have artwork readily available, however. Just because someone else is using the same actor as a PB does not mean you can’t as well.
Can my character arrive with previous game knowledge?
Yes, we will allow previous game knowledge to be brought over on 2 conditions
1) The character is still recognizable as the original canon portrayal.
2) Your character must have spent a consistent and substantial amount of time in the other game. This means we will be accepting history from DRs but only if it can be demonstrated that the character was played with a reasonable amount of consistency allowing for a realistic representation of the passing of time.
What if my character is sick/cursed/terminally ill?
In a city where dreams come true it is only fitting that such ailments be reversible. Unfortunately the character must be able to maintain that self-perception of being truly healthy again. The longer the character has been afflicted the harder it will be for them to think of themselves as being healthy individuals and thus the harder that health will be to attain.
What about my character’s familiar/pet/animal companion of the last 100 years?
Familiars, who are in some way required for a character to be able to access their powers (Kiba from Naruto) will be allowed as well as animals that are an extension of the character’s soul (His Dark Materials books). We will be allowing other pets and companion animals to come with them for now, given they are not too large (full size dragons and sky bison will have to stay at home). Whatever type of animal companion your character is bringing along each character is limited to one larger or up to three smaller ones (ex. cats or smaller). Yes, even you pokemon masters out there.
What if my character has magic or power abilities? Can they keep it?
Sure! Though even in dreams, powers can find new limitations. Characters that have the ability to teleport/can use dimensional travel will find that these abilities only work within the city itself. They cannot sneak into the Tower of the Princess, nor can they reach the gates. World-ending powers are nullified. Other than that, they have full use of canon abilities.

Personality: This is the section we expect to see the most detail in. We want to know how your character thinks, acts, talks, dresses, moves... as much as you can think of about what makes up who they are. Please take your time and think about both the character’s motivations and their outward selves. Be sure to include character strengths and weaknesses here, as well.
Skills and Powers: This is the place for any particular skills and powers the characters have! Be sure to elaborate on things useful in everyday life as well as combat or supernatural powers.
If your character has a dimension-hopping power, please be aware that it will be disabled. Any other teleportation powers will remain intact within the city itself but they will be unable to teleport to the castle or any of the gate islands. For characters who are canonly deities or extremely powerful, please be prepared to have their abilities limited. Any limitations you would like to do voluntarily should be mentioned here!
For characters without canon superhuman powers, there will be points within the game where they can gain powers, ICly, after they are in play.
Items: What is your character coming into the game with? What do they keep in their pockets? Is there anything of sentimental value that they keep on their person at all times. What is important to them? Please keep in mind that most of these characters are entering the Citadel from their dreams so items that may have been lost or broken can be made whole again in their dreams. This is also where you would note if you plan to have a pet or animal companion accompany your character.
We also ask that you include a picture here for the compact mirror you are choosing to use for your character! If you are stuck, especially for the more masculine characters, you can also look at cigarette holders as well.
Writing samples:
Action: This sample should be a network post from your character. It is not required to be their introductory post, in fact we’d rather prefer it not be! This is a chance to think about the mischief your character might be getting into a week or more after their arrival. Please bear in mind that, while network posts can be quite short, this is meant to demonstrate your handle on the character’s “voice” and as such it should be long enough to show that. Mannerisms, tone, and the type of broadcast being presented are also things that should be included. Even if it is simply your character speaking we would like at least some actual action showing their tone while doing so.
Third Person Prose: For this sample, feel free to use an NPC for minor interaction, if you like. However, be sure the focus is on your character and their thoughts and actions. Feel
free to be creative within the game environment, whether it’s your character’s first reaction or something that might happen after they’ve been around for a while. Length isn’t as important as quality, but please give at least a couple of solid paragraphs.
